We are rapidly approaching the end of the semla season here on socials, but I have at least one more review lined up for you after this one… Or maybe two, depending on if I can actually get my hands on another one.
Today I stopped by @kulturbistron. The bun itself is truly excellent and packed with plenty of cardamom. It is crowned with lightly whipped cream that has a mild and light taste, making the balance absolutely perfect.
The almond paste is where things get really interesting. I like the texture from the coarse sugar hidden inside because there is a lovely crunch to every single bite. It features a delicious and deep almond flavor with distinct notes of browned butter and roasted almonds.
Now that I really think about it, the filling tastes almost exactly like a tosca cake topping.
