We are nearing the end of the semla season here on socials, and while I do not have any premade posts lined up after this, I might do one spontaneously. Today features four different semlor from Konditori Vasa.
In pictures one and two you see a standard and a vanilla semla. Honestly they were disappointing. The vanilla cream was gluey and the whipped cream was overworked until it had notes of butter. I have been a customer for ten years and never experienced this.
I gave them another chance the next day with a blueberry and a chocolate semla seen in pictures three and four. The difference was like night and day. The buns were better and the cream was much softer with no butter likeness at all. The blueberry cream, chocolate cream and chocolate lid were great.
However both hid a vanilla cream filling that still had that gluey texture making the chocolate one taste very much like a Boston Cream donut.
They probably just had an off day with the first batch. While these might not be my top favorites it is always fun to find a place offering such a wide variety of flavors.
