Kaffebox – March 19 Box Preview: Kafferäven Per Nordby

Now it’s finally time for the next KaffeBox, we’ve finally caught up with the date! Let’s go with the March 19 box!

This will be the 15th time for KaffeBoxyou can read the most previous post here. This post was actually meant to be “Kaffebox – February 19 Box Preview”. But per usual the coffee got stuck in customs… It’s sad really that our neighbor-country can’t send coffee without difficulties. It’s over 30 days delayed now, so luckily enough I got the latest box instead. At least something, right!?

The coffee comes from the Swedish Gothenburg roastery Kafferäven Per Nordby. This upcoming week we will review coffee from Costa Rica and Kenya.

As usual, I start with an informative text about the coffees:

Kafferäven Per Nordby, Gothenburg, Sweden.

1) Kafferäven Per Nordby – Don Gerardo
Personal cupping and recipe will be published 2019-04-05

Origin: Costa Rica
Variety:  Red Catuai
Producer: Gerardo Arias
Region: Tarrazu
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1 200 – 1 600  masl.

Cupping notes from the coffee roastery:
Soft, creamy, lingonberry, apricot & butterscotch.

Expectation:
The smell of this coffee was amazing, but yet again I’m here with a Washed-processed coffee from Costa Rica, it’s not bad in some way, it’s just that I love the honeys from Costa Rica, that’s the purest origin I know. I expect a good coffee none the less.

2) Kafferäven Per Nordby – Nyawira
Personal cupping and recipe will be published 2019-04-07

Origin: Kenya
Variety: Arabica SL 28 SL 34
Producer: Nyawira Estate
Region: Embu District
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1 400 masl.

Cupping notes from the coffee roastery:
Red currant, lime, grapefruit & creamy apricot.

Expectation:
This sounds like a pretty good Kenyan coffee, I would prefer a natural one, but Per Nordby has a good eye for coffee so I believe that this will be very good!

Conclusion: Coffee from Kafferäven Per Nordby is always in high regard, the quality is top notch and I’m always eager to try their newest coffee. This will be very exciting!

As usual, I always wish to give a respectful greeting to KaffeBox, which allows us to get together with coffee from all over Scandinavia so that we can see how we roast differently and at the same time give us the best coffee from there. As a Swede, I hope we support our wonderful neighbors and continue to subscribe.

I think that the Costa Rican coffee will be the best between the two!
