Kaffebox – August 19 Box Preview: Lippe

Now it’s finally time for the next KaffeBox. Let’s begin by going through the August 19 box!

This will be the 19th time for KaffeBoxyou can read the most previous post here.

The coffee comes from the Norwegian, Oslo roastery Lippe. In the coming days, we will review coffee from Honduras followed by a coffee from Ethiopia.

This is actually the second time I’ve reviewed Lippe in a KaffeBox, last time was KaffeBox July 2018.

As usual, I’ll start with an informative text about the coffees:

Lippe, Oslo, Norway.

1) Caballero La Julia
Personal cupping and recipe will be published 2019-09-05

Origin: Honduras
Variety: Catuai
Producer: Marysabel Caballero & Moises Herrera
Region: Chinacle, Marcala
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1 600 masl.

Cupping notes from the coffee roastery:
Plum, red apples and brown sugar
Sweet, bright with good structure

Expectation:
This sounds like a really good kind of coffee, the smell is rich and gives me a good expectation of what I’ll actually get in result. Coffee from Honduras is not something I try so often, nothing negative about it. It’s just not that common to drink since roasteries usually roast coffee from the more common countries, Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Kenya etc. I’m looking forward to trying this!

2) Foge
Personal cupping and recipe will be published 2019-09-09

Origin: Ethiopia
Variety: Heirloom 74112 & 1377
Producer: Kanteki family
Region: Yirgacheffe
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1 800 masl.

Cupping notes from the coffee roastery:
Lemon sorbet & bergamot
Juicy & extremely clean

Expectation:
I believe that this coffee will have a very crisp taste to it, the cupping notes has many sweet and acidic notes that might give you that extra kick. This sounds like a coffee that could be brewed awesome if brewed correctly. I’ll try my best to get the recipe on point.

Conclusion: As I wrote above, this is the second time I try Lippe in KaffeBox, last time it was July 2018. They’ve always been reliable and good, never disappointed me.

Just reading the description on the bags I think that the coffee from Honduras will do the trick. I think that the brewing of this coffee will be far easier than to reach the highest potential of the coffee from Ethiopia.

As usual, I always wish to give a respectful greeting to KaffeBox, which allows us to get together with coffee from all over Scandinavia so that we can see how we roast differently and at the same time give us the best coffee from there. As a Swede, I hope we support our wonderful neighbors and continue to subscribe.

I have great hopes for this August 19 Box!
