Grocery Store Coffee – Kafferosteriet Löfbergs – Brazil Single Origin

Okay so we’ll end the circle of: going from grocery store bought coffee to great tasting coffee from amazing roasteries, without going out of border acidic or too fruity. So the taste should be nutty and chocolaty, sweet caramel and so on. Something every coffee drinker will like. Instead of beginning with this coffee we’ll end the circle with it, the reason why is to maybe clarify some stuff.

First of all, I’ve been serving dark roast @sandbykafferosteri – Lundarost and mid roast @johanochnyström – Tro, Hopp & Kaffe to a lot of people so they themselves will try what happens when they try something like a normal coffee from a Grocery Store. I’ve chosen to buy @lofbergs pre ground – Brazil Single Origin.

So a day after trying out the two other coffees we sat down and tried this one out, the common denominator was that it’s slightly bitter and doesn’t have any rich aromas. To be clear, we flushed our moths with carbonated water to “cleanse” the palate as good as we can. Then we tried the mid roast coffee, wow… What a caramel like feeling and the Lundarost was punchy but not bitter at all. Then we tried Löfbergs (grocery store bought) coffee again, now it was even more bitter and the roast level was so high that it didn’t feel to belong in the mid roast at all.

What Löfbergs is doing, is a good change, they’re trying to implement what specialty coffee has done for years, but not at the level I’ve hoped. But the coffee is really cheap (a 1/3 of what the other cost, and they’re pretty cheap as well), they have to go around I guess and they can’t do longer processing of the coffee than other farms do or roast at smaller batches because that would take too long. All of this is completely understandable and if you love this coffee I would never in a million of years want to say what’s right or wrong. I’m just opening new doors and the choice is yours if you want to try it out. How we enjoy coffee is personal.
